Twelfth graders learn a defining feature of Hindi: three levels of “you.” आप (āp) is formal and respectful; तुम (tum) is familiar; तू (tū) is intimate or very casual. Choosing the right one shows respect — so they sort situations into formal आप vs casual तुम/तू.
