Sixth graders learn the months in Thai — Makarakhom (มกราคม, January), Kumphaphan (กุมภาพันธ์, February), Minakhom (มีนาคม, March)… Each Thai month is named after a zodiac sign, and its ending even tells you its length: “-khom” months have 31 days, “-yon” months have 30! Duean (เดือน) means month. They put the first months in order.
