Bengali at the Doctor

Eighth graders learn to talk about being sick in Bengali — mathabetha (মাথাব্যথা, headache), petbetha (পেটব্যথা, stomachache), jor (জ্বর, fever), oshudh (ওষুধ, medicine), oshustho (অসুস্থ, sick). Handy pattern: betha (ব্যথা) means “pain,” so body part + betha says what hurts!
